Memory Lane MOnday

Paige, Brooke, Jack and Bridget
(I think Paige & I were 12 years old)

Kelsey 9, Cody 8, Tatum 6, Sydney 4, Kennedi 3, Carter 3 & Landon 2
Growing up I have so many wonderful memories of spending time up at my Grandpa & Grandma Leffue's cabin. We loved playing at a creek close by. We would go up in the summer for a week and play with cousins, go fishing with Grandpa, read & work on math (not my favorite) but after we would go for walks to the little store & get yummy treats! We loved playing kick the can & building forts. At night we would stay up late and play lots of fun games.
Now that I have my own little family I want my kiddos to make their own memories of going up to the cabin & having lots of fun with their cousins. We brought two blow up boats & headed to the creek for some fun. Well at first all the kids were freaking out and didn't seem to like it much. Paige & I were determined to have our kiddos to love the creek as much as we did. So, we moved locations and it was great even the cry babies got in the water. We had a picnic and the kids had fun going down the waterfall in the boats. The littles loved throwing rocks & Carter loved climbing the rocks. The trip was a BIG success and they couldn't wait to go back.

Memory Lane Monday!

I got this from a friend's blog. I thought this would be fun. I hope you will play along.

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Memory Lane Monday

The summer before I met Mike when Cody & I were living with my parents we took a trip back east. We went to go for the open house at the Nauvoo temple. Along the way we stopped at a couple other temples. The Nauvoo temple was so beautiful and it was such an amazing experience. Cody was only 2 1/2 at the time and after that trip any time he saw a temple or what he thought looked like a temple he would get so excited! That trip was so much fun my parents stayed in a hotel room in town close to temple with my grandparents. Us kids couldn't find a room close so we stayed in another town close by. We would go out to eat every night and one night went bowling. I have some cute pictures of that trip but I don't feel like looking for them. I wish I could remember more of that fun trip. I'm sure if I sat down with Bridget, Jack & Steven we could remember a lot more. I do remember that summer I was only home 5 days out of the whole month of June. I can't even imagine doing that now.

Memory Lane Monday

Our rabbits had bunnies a couple of weeks ago and it got me thinking. I remember when we were younger one Easter our Aunt Xan gave us a bunny and a chick. They were so cute and we felt pretty special. The bunny lasted longer then the chick, animals didn't live long at our house.
So this little memory got me thinking about this Easter. Wouldn't it be so cute to do a photo with a fun background, bunnies and chicks for Easter. Now I need to find what the kiddos will be wearing. Easter is early this year, I don't remember it being in March this much. I need to have Mike pick up a few cute little chicks & do it soon before these bunnies are big! The only other worry is that Carter just might squeeze the life right out of them. He loves to hold them but he just doesn't know his own strength.
What do you think, good idea or to much trouble?

Memory Lane Monday

This memory I think is more from hearing it from others. I was five and my younger sister Bridget was just a baby. I do remember always being worried whenever she cried & always wanting to help. My mom was out in our backyard working in the garden. Bridget started crying so I being the helpful big sister, got her out of her bed and carried her all the way to the garden where my mom was. It was really muddy & Bridget was a very big chuck! Well in my attempt to help I made things worst by dropping Bridget in the mud. I don't really remember what I did after that probably cried. My mom has a cute picture of Bridget in the mud, I will have to get it & add it.

Memory Lane Monday

My memory this week is all about when Paige and I would stay up and goof around every night when our parents thought we were sleeping. Later of course we figured it out that they knew all along but we sure thought we were sneaky! We would set up our light bright(I think that's what they were called)and play, laugh, talk & sometimes even get brave and sneak and watch Johnny Carson. At one time Bridget's crib was in the middle of our beds & we would keep her up all night too! It's starting to sound like I deserve twins myself! And no wonder after I got married I had such a hard time going to sleep I missed my buddy! I seriously thought we should talk for at least an hour before falling asleep. Having a twin sister was so wonderful it was like being at a slumber party ever night. Where you know you need to go to sleep but there is always just one more thing you gotta say.
Part of this memory is also to write about when I had to get stitches in my lip. I was 5 years old and it was one of those nights when Paige & I were suppose to be sleeping but we were goofing around instead. I don't remember much but I ripped opened my lip on my bed. I still remember my dad's garment top being covered in blood! My mom took me to the hospital and I remember the nurse holding me down. She had short blond curly hair and I was so scared! I also remember when I went to get the stitches taken out I had hot pink pants on and I was so scared that I wet my pants! I didn't mean for this to be so long but here it is, sorry!

Memory Lane Monday

This is a picture of Cody kissing his cousin Tatum. When Cody & I lived with my parents we had a lot of quality time to spend with Tatum. Paige was still working at a salon in Scottsdale so we would get to watch her. Cody loved having her come over. After so much time together they acted more like brother and sister then cousins. I remember Cody would lay on the floor watching cartoons and Tatum would crawl over and smack his head and hurry off with a big grin! She loved when he gave her all his attention! They are still such great friends!

Memory Lane Monday

I wish I would have been better and done this during the holidays! I still remember the Christmas when I got stretch pants and a big over sized blue sweater and black boots of course! I had gotten up in the middle of the night and had seen everything that Santa had brought me. I remember feeling so bad! I also remember that same Christmas getting a gold boom box, a plastic charm necklaces ( does anyone remember those?) and a tether ball.

Memory Lane Monday!

Since the twins will be 3 this week, I have been going through a ton of pictures! Thank goodness for pictures it's sad because I can hardly remember anything after I had these two!! I could tell you exactly how I felt, what the weather was like & even what was on tv the day we brought Cody home from the hospital. But, ask me anything about the twins I will not be able to tell you much-it really makes me sad!!!
So back to Memory Lane Monday! Carter and Kennedi were around a month old in this cute picture. I had gone to get a shower and when I got out I couldn't find any of the kids! This is what I found! Cody & Kelsey had moved the babies bouncer seats with Carter & Kennedi in them into their room. They were playing house & had a kitchen table set up and just playing like they were mom & dad to Carter & Kennedi.
I think back at all the stuff we had Cody & Kelsey do. Mike & I would have to remind each other that they were kids too! What a blessing to have such wonderful little helpers & they were so willing.

Memory Lane Monday

This picture was taken I believe 5 years ago it was a girl's trip we took to California for Bridget's 21st birthday. We had so much fun! We flew over for the weekend and pretty much shopped the entire time. We would stay up late talking and laughing! One night we went to dinner and then went and saw Brittany Spears movie, I remember we all thought it was cute and thought she was sweet. We shopped so much!!! This picture is Bridget, Paige and mom trying to stuff all our great finds in our bags. We even had baskets in our suitcases. I remember when we landed in Phoenix and went to pick up our bags mine had broke and all my stuff was all over! I was a little embarrassed. Someone that worked at the airline ran over and had me pick a new suitcase in their office. I said, so you are giving me a new suitcase when I'm the one who over stuffed it? That's right she said, how great is that! We have tried to go on a girl's trip every year and now that mom works for the airlines it sometimes more then once a year! I'm so grateful that we are so close and loving doing fun things together.

And the winner is...

Crazymama!
She was the only one that got it right. I did go to Alaska with Mike but as Julie said I did not go fishing. I would drop Mike off for his day of fishing and I would go shopping!
You can look forward to the rest on my Memory Lane Mondays to come.

Memory Lane MOnday

Anyone remember the game where you tell three truths and a lie?
I got the idea from my friend onehm. I love this game but, I'm so bad because you can tell when I'm lying so this might help me. Leave me a comment and tell me which one you think is my lie! NO Cheating!!!
#1 Paige and I went to London with a group of woman from the salon we worked at. On that same trip Paige and I traveled to Paris just the two of us!

#2 I went Halibut fishing for the first time in Alaska 3 summers ago.

#3 Me and some of my friends sneaked into Golfland/Sunsplash after it had closed.

#4 I jumped over a HUGE snake while camping!

* Now the three truths will have to be my next three Memory Lane Mondays!

Great Grandma Leffue's
Snicker doodle Cookie Recipe

Mix together thoroughly...
2 sticks butter or shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs

Sift together and stir in...
2 3/4 cups sifted flour
2 tsp cream of tarter
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Chill dough.
Roll into balls the size of small walnuts.
Roll in mixture of 2 tbsp sugar & 2 tsp cinnamon.
Place about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake until lightly browned...but still soft.
These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops.

Temp: 400 degrees
Time: 8-10 minutes
Amount: 5 dozen cookies

This is one of my favorite memories of my Great Grandma Leffue. She always had yummy Snicker doodles at her house for the Grand kids and adults to enjoy! I loved going to visit Grandpa and Grandma. They had a great big tree in their backyard that was perfect for climbing. I remember loving during fall to go visit because there were so many leaves to jump into! She was always so happy and loved having us teach her new things. For example one time I was making some sort of craft & I rolled a piece of tape and I still to this day remember how wonderful she thought that was & she sure made me feel pretty special! Her and Grandpa lived in a very old home and they had a mail slot, I remember us kids thought that was so neat that their mail dropped right inside their house. Grandma always had fun nicknack's and great treasures, every once in awhile Paige & I will say if we would have only held on to them! The first time she held Cody as a baby she just kept saying how much she loved his name and even said thank goodness we don't have another John. This always made me laugh since that's my Grandpa's name which is her son. I feel so blessed to be able to have known my Great Grandma and have such beautiful memories of her.

Memory Lane Monday!

Since Lindsey told about a blind date I thought I would too! After thinking about the worst blind date I thought back and I have been on a lot. I don't know but that doesn't seem good. I had a few fun dates, and a lot of not so fun and one that was pretty GREAT!
I had one date that had the dorkiest laugh, another with chicklets for teeth, one that was trying to show me what a great father he would be to Cody-1st date what was he thinking?! One that played "It's Our Anniversary" over & over in his truck! Another that made me believe he was a dentist then come to find out the LOSER is unemployed!
Sad but true! It's funny how when your older & single it really doesn't matter if you have anything in common besides being single! And that was the case on most of these dates!!!
But, I'm sure happy I didn't give up on blind dates because that is how Mike and I meet!

Memory Lane Monday!

We went to my parents house last night for Sunday dinner. It was fun and a very casual night! I had borrowed some of my mom's decorations for our super Saturday & when Cody and I were putting it all back I found this. I made it for my mom in I think 2nd grade for Mother's Day! I felt pretty special that she had held on to it all these years. I was wanting to use the brown flowers in it for hair clips but I don't know now. I'm sure my mom was happy I took this old thing! I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Memory Lane Monday

My memory for today is going to my Grandpa & Grandma Leffue's cabin. My mom, Grandma & Aunt Cheryl would bring all of us kids up North to stay at the cabin and then our dads & Grandpa would come up for the weekend. I have so many wonderful memories of the cabin trips & now when ever I take my kiddos they get to hear all of them. We would go to Tonto Creek and play for hours in the water, fish & have picnics. I also loved going to Sheep's Crossing and having picnics.
We loved building forts, playing kick the can, playing on the swing, roasting marsh mellows, playing 'house' or 'store' in the old trailer & going for drives. I loved going on walks down to the little store and buying treats. Mom would always bribe us with candy!

At night we would have yummy dinners. Then it was a night of game playing my favorite! I remember playing Aggravation, Sorry, Uno and lots of fun card games. When I got a little bit older Paige, Stacey & I would get to sleep in the trailer. I remember feeling so old like we had our own house. We also re-decorated the kitchen in the cabin. That is when I learned how to wallpaper. It was so fun us girls got to pick out all the colors and cute decorations. That night we stayed up so late painting and singing silly songs! We were so proud when we were finished.
There was (it's been cut down now) an old stump in front of the cabin and every year we would get pictures of us kids sitting on it. I think I have a picture of Cody on the stump. The first picture is Bridget, Paige & I on the 'famous' stump!

Grandpa and Grandma always spent great quality time with each of us. Grandpa loved taking us out on the boat to go fishing & we always caught fish! I remember him showing us how to clean the fish once we were back to the cabin.
Grandma was always teaching us. She was always playing some kind of game and sneaking in MATH somehow. We read all the time but always got some yummy treat afterwards. I'm so grateful for all the love and time they spent with us. I could go on & on about all the fun trips they took me and my family on but I will save some for another Memory Lane Monday.

Memory Lane Monday

Awhile back after Bunko Paige, Bridget and I sat in my van at Paige's house and just talked for a long time. Paige had to run in for something when she came back she had a gallon of ice cream and three spoons! Earlier we were talking about ice cream & Paige told us about her new favorite Banana Split!!! Yummy! So the three of us sat in my car talking while we finished off the rest of the ice cream. I love my sisters and all the fun we have together!
I found this picture of us girls being silly on a road trip when we were much younger. I believe we were singing & dancing to the song 'The heat is on'.

Memory Lane Monday

I have so many memories of toilet papering mostly boys houses. One of the first times that I had ever done it was at the Delap's house. It was funny that a bunch of young girls would pick their house. Their dad was an F.B.I. guy so we always got caught doing stupid stuff at their house.

This time it was at a slumber party we put together after camp. We all spent the night at Reilly's house and then walked to the Delap's house. Which now as a mother I would die if Kelsey ever walked that far in the middle of the night. We started toilet papering and we were probably way to loud! Reilly went up to the door and thought that there was a statue on their front step. She got closer to wrap paper over it when she realised it was Daryl & Damon's older brother. He had been sitting there watching us for probably a good 5 minutes! Of course Reilly screamed and we all ran down the street. Then we decided to go back and we ended up talking to him for awhile and then finished up the job! *If I have this story wrong please corrected me. I have so many funny stories of us(Paige, Celena, Reilly & I) toilet papering. Paige was always so fun to go with. She was so particular about where each piece was going or she was just tired and in slow motion. Good times!!!

That same slumber party, we stayed up almost the whole night. Maybe only got 2 hours of sleep. I remember in the morning we couldn't find Joy anywhere. She must have slept walked because she had crawled in Reilly's parents bed! They were already up and doing stuff but still can you imagine how embarrassing that would be.
