Happy Thanksgiving!

Yesterday at school Mike and I went to watch Carter and Kennedi in their school Thanksgiving program. They did such a cute job and it was fun to see them try and remember all the songs. After the program we headed to a park and had a Thanksgiving feast. When we were leaving Carter looked up at me & said so is it Christmas now? Do you think he is excited for Christmas? Oh and they know that their birthdays are close to Christmas so they are extra excited!!! The other day they were talking about their birthdays & they started planning the whole party. They want to have PaPa Joe's big bouncy slide, friends & pizza. They are getting so big!
Yesterday was the big turkey BBQ in our backyard. This event is Mike and Cody's favorite thing. The night before when I saying goodnight to Cody he said "is tomorrow Wednesday"? It really is a boys dream.
Today we will going over to my Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Tom's house for lunch. We went their last year and it was so fun hanging out with family while the kiddos had a blast in their fun backyard. And, later tonight we will go visit Pam & Joe. Then of course gearing up for Black Friday. YEAH!!!!
I hope everyone has a fun, safe and relaxing Thanksgiving!!!

Kennedi is still in love with dolls! Here she is giving them all a ride on Kelsey's horse.

Turkey BBQ, Thanksgiving & Black Friday

A year after we moved in the boy scouts in our ward built a BBQ pit in our backyard. Every year the day before Thanksgiving the scouts have a fundraiser for their troop. Where they cook turkey's for Thanksgiving. They start preparing for this day months before. This year even Cody, Rhett and Beau were able to be apart of all the fun!! Of course since the pit is in our yard Cody has seen it be built and been a spectator every year but this year the cub scouts made signs and helped the day of. Even Carter got into all the work and Kennedi was scared that she might fall in. Later me and the kiddos headed over to PaPa Joe's birthday party.

This year for Thanksgiving we went over to my Aunt & Uncles house. It was such a fun day! The weather was so nice and they got a new play set so the kids were very entertained. After a yummy lunch a few of us started playing Phase 10, I forgot how long that game can last!! It was so much fun! Then us girls studied the ads for Black Friday. We ended up going to Toys R' Us at midnight I couldn't believe the line at midnight! It was Paige, Bridget, Mom, Stacey, Marisol and I. Not a great move on our part because they trick you into buying stuff because only certain things are on sale at midnight the rest at 5am.

Paige and I took Bridget home because she had to work in the morning. Then Paige and I grabbed food and the others went to Arizona Mills. I heard it was crazy over there! Paige and I got to Kohl's at 2am and were 3rd in line YEAH!!! It was so cold not a fan! We enlisted Steven to help us he came to our rescue so we could get everything we wanted. Great deals!! We got everything and were out of there so quick.

Next we met up with the others at Walmart. Wow, it was pretty crazy! So many wonderful deals!! It was fun! Steven and Paige headed to Kmart for bikes and then we met up with them. Well for my first experience with Black Friday was great and I will be doing it again for sure. It feels so great to be so close to being done with Christmas shopping. Only a few negatives mom got yelled at for being in a very grumpy lady's way and I only broke glass from one frame. I leaned over this lady's cart to grab a DVD and I broke her frame. I felt so stupid and very grateful she was so understanding! Thank goodness it wasn't the lady who yelled at mom, who knows what she would have done. I came home and crashed on the couch until Mike sent me to bed. What a sweet hubby for keeping everything under control so I could sleep.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving

How do you do Thanksgiving dinner?
We switch off every year between my dad's family usually at my Aunt Kim & Uncle David's house and my mom's family. This year we are going to my Aunt Cheryl & Uncle Tom's house. With my mom's family we try to do a big group family photo (our hubby's love this part! hee hee!!) We eat outside & the kiddos play, the guys watch tv & nap and the girls chat. This year we will be planning our BIG shopping day!

Where do you go for thanksgiving? stay home? in-laws? travel?
I pretty much answered this one all ready. Mike's family is in Utah & Alaska so we have always just stayed in town. We would love to go to Utah one of these years. Alaska would be fun too! I'm such a baby I would probably be so home sick!!

If you bring something what do you bring?
I bring something different every year.

What "makes" thanksgiving dinner for you?

Mashed potatoes, yummy homemade rolls & being with family.

What grosses you out?
I hate cranberry sauce and I'm not a huge fan of stuffing.

Gravy preference? brown? turkey? Homemade?
I love my Grandma Daley's chicken gravy soooo yummy with lots of pepper!

Mashed Potatoes? from scratch? or instant?
Homemade mashed potatoes with salt, pepper & a little bit of butter.

I love my Grandma Daley's potatoes too!

Do you actually eat Yams?
I'm like a kid I always said I didn't like yams but I couldn't ever really remember actually trying them. It was after Mike & I were married that I ate them I loved them. I don't like them with marshmallows. Butter, brown sugar & cinnamon-YUM!

What about cranberries?
The thought could make me gag!

Pie? What is a "must have" at every Thanksgiving dessert table?
I love apple pie warm with a little vanilla ice cream. I don't like pumpkin or pecan. When Mike makes pecan pie I try but I ended up just eating the crust. Oh, I love the french silk too!

Pies? From scratch? Or store bought?
I love homemade but I don't mind store bought.

Whipped cream? From scratch ? Cool whip? Or from a can?
Nothing!
I stole this from Crazymama thought it would be fun!
I would love to hear what you love about Thanksgiving, please share!
